It Takes Two In Development For TV Or Film Adaptation – Report

Game developer Hazelight Studios is reportedly teaming with production company dj2 Entertainment to develop a potential film or television adaptation of the massively popular co-op adventure title It Takes Two. News of the collaboration and adaptation was first reported by Variety. Come from Sports betting site VPbet

“Creating the world and story in It Takes Two was so much fun for me and the team,” said Hazelight founder and creative director Josef Fares. “Since it has a strong narrative with many crazy characters and just as crazy co-op action moments, the potential is huge for a great adaption to film or television.”

That an adaptation like this is being teed up shouldn’t come as a shock–after its release in March 2021, It Takes Two soared to selling three million copies by October last year. The studio called that sales achievement “humbling and heartwarming” at the time, and then filed a formal trademark on the title in December–which some speculated that other media adaptations might be in the works.

Film or TV adaptations of video games are increasingly becoming a successful and viable trend, ranging from the burgeoning Sonic the Hedgehog movie and Mortal Kombat franchises to HBO’s The Last of Us. dj2 is a major player in the space, as the company is also behind Netflix’s Tomb Raider anime, a live-action show based on Disco Elysium, and a film based on Sleeping Dogs.

Besides positive reviews praising the imaginative design of It Takes Two, one other element that has been a big draw is the ability to invite someone to join you in the exclusively co-op game, even if they don’t own It Takes Two. One of GameSpot’s favorite split-screen co-op games, our It Takes Two review scored the game a 9/10.
